Notice of Pre-employment and
Pre-assignment Clearance
The names of all Austin Travis County Mental
Health Mental Retardation Center (“ATCMHMR”) prospective employees are cleared
through a pre-employment criminal history and registry clearance. The clearance will search data from the
Texas Department of Public Safety, the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals,
the Texas Department of Human Services Nurse Aide Registry and Employee Misconduct
Registry, and the Texas Department of State Health Services Client Abuse and
Neglect Reporting System. Additionally, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
fingerprint clearance is conducted for those applicants who have resided
outside the state of Texas within the past two years of application. A

ATCMHMR, in ATCMHMR’s discretion.

contracts, county courts and health plan customers. This position requires at
least five (5) years progressively responsible management and supervisory

utilization management with clinical experience in work with individuals who
experience chronic mental illness or who have dual disorders of mental illness
and substance use disorders. This position requires the individual have

Psychiatric Emergency Services and the Crisis Intervention Teams. Of the Austin
Police Department and Travis County Sheriff’s Department providing nursing
assessments, interventions, brief follow-up and service linkage to adults and
children/youth in non-clinical community settings. There is extensive latitude
for the exercise of independent judgment. Three (3) years experience in
providing direct care for individuals with mental illnesses and or substance abuse
preferred. With the minimum of five (5) years working experience in assessment
and health care and crisis intervention required. At least two (2) years
working experience in dual diagnosis and case management required.

and unstable with increased need for crisis intervention. Work is performed
under limited supervision of the unit manager with extensive latitude for the
use of initiative and independent judgment. Community based services are

functioning. Services may include developing skills necessary to obtain or
maintain employment or housing, or to obtain services such as medical care,
dental care, food, clothing, utilities, financial assistance, transportation,
legal assistance, or any other basic human need and the coordination of these
services to assist the client in obtaining these services. At this level,
client caseloads are relatively stable with limited need for crisis
intervention. Work is performed under the general supervision of the unit
manage with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent
judgment. Must have knowledge of community resources, of case management and
service coordination principles, objectives, standards and methods, and of
program objectives, policies and procedures. The ability to access the client
needs and to coordinate client services, communicate effectively with diverse
cultures and socio-economic populations and the ability to instruct and
demonstrate effective social behaviors and skills necessary for client success.
With a minimum of (2) year experience in case management and clinical

Experience: The Therapist provides clinical
treatment, service coordination, and information and referral services for
assigned Center consumers. The clinical treatment may include outpatient
services in the modalities of individual, family and group therapies.
Additional services may include collateral contacts; count testimony, and case
consultation. Services may be provided at program sites or within the
environment of the consumer’s home or school setting. The therapist develops
and implements an individualized treatment plan t hat may include mental health
assessment, advocacy, intensive care coordination, parent training, family
support, crisis intervention, therapy and skills training. Must coordinate with
multiple child serving systems when necessary. Must meet the requirement of
obtaining 65% direct service hours per month and provide timely and accurate
documentation. Awareness and knowledge of cultural diversity in the community
is beneficial. At least two (2) years experience in children’s mental health,
computer applications, and counseling required. Bilingual in Spanish a
plus.
Hours: Full-time,

RELIEF
LPHA, 56 EAST AVENUE, MOBLIE CRISIS OUTREACH TEAM

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Services
field preferred. Master’s Degree in the Social Services required.
Experience: The relief position is a part of the Mobile
Crisis Outreach Team, which is technically, located a Nadine Jay Building at
PES but mostly works out in the community. The primary purpose is to provide
professional-level crisis intervention services including but not limited to:
screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with mental
illness, chemical dependency, and or homeless in the community, including
adults, adolescents and children. At this level assignments of moderate to
significant complicity are handled with considerable independence by a team of
two or more on duty. The relief employee has significant latitude for the
exercise of independent judgment in most work performed and or supervised.
Minimum of two (2) years experience working in a clinical setting and mental health
required. At least one (1) year experience in crisis intervention and substance
abuse required.
Licenses: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LPHD licensure
required. Current and valid
Texas driver’s license and a clean driving record required. Must be eligible
