Dorcas Seals, Member
Appointed in 2007 by the Austin Independent School District.
Longtime community advocate Dorcas Seals has been appointed
by the Austin Independent School Board (AISD) as a Center
Trustee. Seals, who brings a strong background in mental health
to her new position, has been employed as a Parent Program
Specialist at Barbara Jordan Elementary School since 2005.
Prior to working for AISD she was a program manager for the
Center’s Behavioral Health Division for eight years
and a social worker at the Austin State Hospital from 1987
to 1996. Seals is a licensed Master Social Worker and holds
an undergraduate degree from Prairie View A & M and a
masters of social work from Texas State University.
