Genevieve T. Hearon, Trustee
Ms. Hearon was appointed in 1995 by the Travis County Commissioners’
Court and serves on the Public Relations and Finance Committees and is a member of the New Milestones
Foundation Board.
A member of a distinguished pioneer family whose roots run
deep in Texas history, Genevieve Hearon has spent a lifetime
working for people with mental disabilities. Her achievements
include spearheading the formation of the Texas Alliance for
the Mentally Ill (TEXAMI) and the Austin Alliance for the
Mentally Ill (AAMI), and serving as President of Capacity
FOR JUSTICE, an organization she founded to advocate for
fair judicial treatment of criminal offenders with mental
disabilities. She holds a Masters in Education from The University
of Texas at Austin and her undergraduate degree from Manhattanville
College. Ms. Hearon has received numerous local, state and
national awards for her humanitarian efforts.
